Secretary for Security visits Kowloon City (with photos)
********************************************************
The Secretary for Security, Mr John Lee, visited Kowloon City this afternoon (September 7), where he met with district personalities to better understand the livelihood of local people and law and order in the district. He also visited a local youth outreach social service centre.

Accompanied by the Kowloon City District Officer, Mr Franco Kwok, Mr Lee first attended a meeting of the District Fight Crime Committee of Kowloon City. During the meeting, Mr Lee discussed with Committee members the law and order situation and anti-drug efforts in the district, and listened to their valuable views on improving law and order locally.

Mr Lee then visited the Kowloon City District Youth Outreaching Social Service Centre of Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service, where he was briefed on the services and facilities provided there. He also chatted with youngsters receiving the centre's services and encouraged them to resist temptation and lead a healthy life. The Centre provides youth outreach social work and services for youth night drifters in the district. It identifies young people in the community and at school who are at risk of drug abuse, have the habit of drug abuse, or participate in compensated dating. Through various services and educational programmes, the Centre helps them abandon bad habits, such as psychotropic substances and compensated dating, so as to start a new life.

Before concluding his visit, Mr Lee paid a visit to Kowloon City District Council and discussed with its members various issues relating to people's livelihood to learn more about the district and its future development.
