Jakarta ETO celebrates HKSAR's 20th anniversary in Brunei (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta (Jakarta ETO) held a reception in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, tonight (August 28) to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

     In her welcoming remarks, the Director-General of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs in Jakarta, Mrs Do Pang Wai-yee, highlighted Hong Kong's achievements in various aspects over the past two decades. On the relationship between Hong Kong and Brunei, Mrs Do said that Hong Kong and Brunei will continue to be friends as the two places work in partnership to bring progress and opportunities to the region.  

     At the reception, Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion of Invest Hong Kong Mr Francis Ho introduced Hong Kong's business advantages and promoted the ample opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative. He also encouraged closer co-operation between the two places in investment. 

     The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, Ms Yang Jian, and over 100 key local business representatives and guests from the Chinese community attended the reception, sharing the joy of the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to its motherland.

     The reception was part of a series of events organised in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.

     The Jakarta ETO represents the HKSAR Government in matters between Hong Kong and ASEAN, with a particular focus on four ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines.
