Transcript of remarks by SLW and USLW
*************************************
Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Dr Law Chi-kwong, and the Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Caspar Tsui, at a media session today (August 2) at the lobby of the West Wing, Central Government Offices:

Reporter: Can you elaborate a little bit more about your different political background? And Mr Tsui, would your previous experience in the Home Affairs Bureau help the discussion about the MPF offsetting mechanism?

Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare: I think my previous experience in the past two terms in the administration will no doubt help me in my new position, especially my experience in dealing with LegCo members and also the 18 districts. I plan to engage the community and stakeholders in the future and so I am sure that I will be helping our bureau in promoting and persuading stakeholders to come to a consensus in the future.

Secretary for Labour and Welfare: Perhaps I can answer in a slightly different way. You asked about our political background. I would say this is basically more an asset rather than a difference. And because of that spectrum of our political dimensions, I guess it actually helps us a lot in delivering the policy and to discuss and negotiate when necessary with all the different parties. I guess this must be a strength for us.
