Alonzo King LINES Ballet to perform "The Propelled Heart" in September
**********************************************************************
Contemporary ballet company Alonzo King LINES Ballet from the United States will stage its production "The Propelled Heart" in September. Grammy Award-winning vocalist Lisa Fischer will collaborate with the company in this programme featuring a work that pays tribute to the power of song.

Choreographer Alonzo King explores the kinetics of the human voice in the piece, highlighting the communicative abilities of the body and its vocal cords as an instrument.

Alonzo King LINES Ballet was founded by Alonzo King in 1982. His works have been recognised internationally by the dance world's most prestigious institutions. He is also a recipient of numerous awards. The then San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom presented the 2nd Annual Mayor's Art Award to King in 2008. Joining historic icons in the field, King was named one of America's "Irreplaceable Dance Treasures" by the Dance Heritage Coalition in 2015.

On working with Fischer, King said, "Lisa Fischer is a brilliant artist with a fully throbbing heart and expansive mind. She is an inspiration of sound, body, and being."

Collaborating with noted composers, musicians and visual artists from around the world, King has created works that draw on a diverse set of deeply rooted cultural traditions, imbuing classical ballet with new expressive potential over the past 30 years. LINES Ballet has been featured at venues including the Venice Biennale, the Monaco Dance Forum, the Edinburgh International Festival and the Holland Dance Festival, raising its status in the international world of dance.
