Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (June 2) seized about 2.1 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated market value of about $2 million in Yau Ma Tei.

     During an anti-narcotic operation conducted in Yau Ma Tei yesterday afternoon, Customs officers intercepted three men and found the suspected cocaine camouflaged as shoe soles carried by one of them. The three men were then arrested.

     The three arrested men were aged from 36 to 48. One of them claimed to be a vessel crew member and the other two unemployed. Investigation is on-going.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
