The Youth Employment and Training Programme (YETP) of the Labour Department (LD) will hold the "Youth Recruitment Day@Youth Employment and Training Programme" for young school leavers aged 15 to 24 with educational attainment at sub-degree level or below at Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai on May 18.

The recruitment day is a large-scale activity organised by the YETP under the special programme "Career Let's Go" launched by the LD this year, and aims to enhance training and employment opportunities for young people. It will be held from 11am to 6pm at Southorn Stadium, 111 Johnston Road, Wan Chai (Wan Chai MTR Station Exit A3). Admission is free.

A total of 28 organisations from various industries such as banking, aviation service, theme park operation, hotels, culture, retail, catering, clubhouse operation management and property management will participate in the recruitment day and offer over 900 on-the-job training vacancies for young job seekers. Participating organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment.

The on-the-job training vacancies cover a wide variety of positions such as bank counter service officer trainee, airline ground services representative, aircraft loading supervisor, ride and attraction host, hotel trainee, lift mechanic trainee, club assistant, barista, trainee (Japanese food) and more, most of which offering monthly salaries from $9,000 to $14,000. The vacancies do not require applicants with relevant experience. Job seekers aged 15 to 24 with education attainment at sub-degree or below are welcome. They can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews.

Moreover, training bodies will provide career consultation and introduce pre-employment training courses including the latest Tailor-made Training-cum-employment Projects of the YETP and the e-Learning Support Scheme which provides job opportunities for youngsters who are interested in the information technology industry, education or the creative multimedia sector. Meanwhile, the LD will set up counters at the venue to provide information on the YETP and one-month workplace attachment training. Participants can enrol for these programmes on the spot.

In addition, career talks will be arranged to brief the participants on the nature and career prospects of different industries on the recruitment day. Senior Lecturer of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at the Chinese University of Hong Kong Dr Benjamin Au Yeung (Ben Sir) has been invited to deliver a talk to youngsters on job interview skills and how to develop a positive attitude in job seeking. Furthermore, a free on-site CV photo shooting service with limited availability will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Job seekers can find more information on the LD's YETP website (www.yes.labour.gov.hk).
