Hospital Authority announces senior appointments (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesman announced the following senior appointments today (April 27).
              
     Dr Tony Ko Pat-sing will take up the post of HA Director (Cluster Services), succeeding Dr Cheung Wai-lun upon his retirement on April 1, 2018. Dr Ko is a specialist in Geriatric Medicine and is currently the Cluster Chief Executive (CCE) of New Territories West Cluster (NTWC) and Hospital Chief Executive (HCE) of Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH), a position he has held since 2014. Prior to his current position, he was the HCE of Pok Oi Hospital and the Service Director of Primary and Community Health Care of NTWC. He also served in the Head Office as Chief Manager in Patient Safety & Risk Management Department as well as in the Strategy, Service Planning and Knowledge Management Department since 2008.

     In his current role, Dr Ko initiated a number of measures to alleviate service pressure in the NTWC, inter alia, increasing the quotas of out-patient clinics and operating theatre sessions. Dr Ko was also instrumental in the development of the extension of operating theatre block of TMH.

     Dr Nelson Wat Ming-sun will take up the post of HCE of Caritas Medical Centre, succeeding Dr Doris Tse who will take up the position of CCE (Kowloon West) and HCE (Princess Margaret Hospital & North Lantau Hospital) with effect from August 1, 2017. Dr Wat is a specialist in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. In his current role as HCE of Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH), Dr Wat leads the KWH Redevelopment Project. Prior to his current post, Dr Wat was the HCE of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) Wong Tai Sin Hospital, TWGHs Fung Yiu King Hospital, MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre and Duchess of Kent Children's Hospital.

     Dr Jenny Lam Mei-yee, Service Director (Quality and Safety) cum Deputy HCE of United Christian Hospital (UCH), will take up the post of HCE of Kowloon Hospital and Hong Kong Eye Hospital with effect from January 2, 2018, succeeding Dr Hobby Cheung who has retired from the HA. Dr Lam is a specialist in Emergency Medicine. Prior to her current role, Dr Lam was the Chief Manager (Service Planning and Transformation) of Kowloon East Cluster (KEC). She assisted CCE (KEC) in formulating the Cluster Clinical Services Plan and in overseeing major capital work projects including the UCH Expansion Project.

     The HA Chairman Professor John Leong and Chief Executive Dr Leung Pak-yin wish Dr Ko, Dr Wat and Dr Lam every success in their new positions.

     Professor Leong and Dr Leung expressed their appreciation to Dr Hobby Cheung for his dedicated service over the years. They also expressed their sincere appreciation to Dr Cheung Wai-lun for his invaluable contribution to public healthcare for over 30 years, from being one of the forerunners of Hong Kong's emergency medicine services to steering the management at the Cluster level and playing a pivotal role in Corporate management. They both wish Dr Cheung a happy retirement.
