Sixteen building plans approved in February

     The Buildings Department approved 16 building plans in February, with four on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 13 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments and three were for factory and industrial developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 18 building projects that, when completed, will provide 146 872 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 2 382 units, and 283 846 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued 10 occupation permits, with two on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 9 327 sq m, involving 148 units, and 29 531 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in February totalled about $1.1 billion.

     In addition, eight demolition consents involving eight building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 612 reports about unauthorised building works in February and issued 888 removal orders on unauthorised works.
