Next week's Internet Economy Summit to explore future developments and strategies
*********************************************************************************
The popular Internet Economy Summit (IES) has been extended to three days this year and will take place from April 10 to 12. Steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) with Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (Cyberport) as the Strategic Partner, the IES will draw together over 60 renowned local and overseas ICT experts and industry leaders, sharing their insights on the global trends, opportunities and development of the Internet-driven economy.

Apart from the Main Forum, four thematic forums will be held to look deeply into the areas of financial technologies, big data, smart city and e-commerce.

The IES finale is entitled "Youth Forum - Internet Economy and Your Future" and is dedicated to encouraging youths to embrace innovation and technology, and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among secondary and university students. More than 10 entrepreneurs and investors will share their invaluable experiences, guiding youngsters to find their way forward amid the opportunities of the Internet economy. Interested youths can register for free at the website of the IES (www.ieconomysummit.hk).

The Government Chief Information Officer, Mr Allen Yeung, said, "The Internet has revolutionised our social and economic activities. The competitiveness of an economy will depend on its capability to harness the opportunities in the ever-burgeoning Internet economy. The IES provides a platform for leaders and experts from East and West to share their vision and strategies on the technological changes and their impact on businesses. Businesses can plan ahead to take advantage of the disrupting changes brought about by the Internet."

The International IT Fest 2017, jointly organised by the OGCIO, Cyberport and the local ICT industry, will also be held from tomorrow (April 7) to the end of April, showcasing Hong Kong's achievements in innovation and technology.
