Appointments to Hong Kong Film Development Council

     The Government today (March 31) announced that the Chief Executive has appointed 21 non-official and two ex-officio members to the Hong Kong Film Development Council (HKFDC) for a term of two years from April 1, 2017, to March 31, 2019.

     The 21 non-official members are 15 re-appointed members and six new appointees. Mr Ma Fung-kwok has been re-appointed as the Chairman of the HKFDC and Dr Wilfred Wong Ying-wai the Vice-chairman. The Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Communications and Creative Industries) will continue to be the ex-officio Vice-chairman of the HKFDC. The Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council or her representative is re-appointed as the other ex-officio member.

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, welcomed the appointments. He said, "The HKFDC has been playing an important role in promoting the film industry of Hong Kong. I look forward to the expert advice and continuous efforts from the members to further promote the development of the industry."

     Mr So also expressed gratitude to the outgoing members, Mr John Chong Koon-nam, Mr Samuel Choy Chung-leung and Ms Tsang Lai-fun, for their valuable contributions to the work of the HKFDC during their tenure of service.

     The new membership of the HKFDC is as follows:

# New appointees

     The biographies of the new members are as follows:

     Mr Leslie Ching Pui-wai has rich experience in film distribution and the music industry. He is the founder of Music Arts & Film Culture Promotion Association of Hong Kong.

     Mr Stephen Lam Ping-kwan is a seasoned film producer who has produced more than 80 films, including "A Simple Life", "Cold War" and the trilogy "Overheard".

     Mr Anthony Lee Ying-lok is a well-experienced commercial and film director. He is the incumbent Vice-President of the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild.

     Mr Stephen Shin Kei-yin is a veteran member of the film industry. He has supervised the planning, development and production of over 60 movies, including "The Great Conqueror's Concubine" and "The Assassin".

     Ms Belinda Tang is the Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Orange Sky Golden Harvest Entertainment (Holdings) Limited. She has wide experience in cinema operation, film financing and film distribution in Hong Kong and the Mainland.

     Ms Bonnie Wong Tak-wei is the Director of Muse's Network Limited and has profound experience in public relations and event management. She has been the Public Relations and Promotion Manager of the Hong Kong Film Awards Presentation Ceremony since 2000, and was involved in the co-ordination of several large-scale fund-raising activities initiated by the industry.

     The HKFDC was set up in 2007 as a non-statutory and advisory committee. Comprising mainly members of the film industry, the HKFDC gives advice to the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development on relevant policies and activities, including manpower training, Mainland and overseas promotion, and film support.
