STH visits Kowloon City District (with photos)

     The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, visited Kowloon City District this afternoon (December 2) to learn more about the social services and elderly care facilities there and meet with members of the Kowloon City District Council (KCDC).

     Professor Cheung, accompanied by District Officer (Kowloon City), Mr Franco Kwok, first toured the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Cho Tong Social Service Building, where he was briefed on the services of a vocational rehabilitation centre and the operation of its workshop. He also visited an attention and care home and an elderly community centre in the building to learn about the daily lives of the elderly in the district.
 
     At the Lok Sin Tong Meal Delivery Service Centre, he learnt that the centre prepares and delivers meals for the elderly and the needy according to their nutritional requirements, so that the service recipients' can enjoy healthy and nourishing food at home.

     Before concluding his visit, Professor Cheung met with the Chairman of KCDC, Mr Pun Kwok-wah, and some KCDC members to gauge views on transport and housing issues in the district.
