Correctional Services Department launches Officer and Assistant Officer II recruitment exercise (with photos)

     The Correctional Services Department (CSD) today (November 29) launched a new recruitment exercise to recruit 50 Officers and around 300 Assistant Officer II. The deadline for application for Assistant Officer II is December 11, while the application period for Officer is from December 12 to 25.
 
     The theme for this recruitment exercise is "Pro．Active". Candidates for the two posts are required to undergo four rounds of assessment including a physical fitness test, a written test, a group interview and a final interview. Candidates must pass the physical fitness test before proceeding to the other rounds of assessment. It is therefore suggested that applicants should enhance their physical fitness through training, making reference to the video clips on physical fitness test items in the CSD website. In addition, candidates should pay more attention to current affairs, especially those related to the department. Good communication and analytical skills are also essential.
 
     Two courses provided by the CSD's Tactical Training Section, the Professional Certificate in Safe and Effective Controlled Tactics and the Certificate in Safe and Effective Controlled Tactics, have recently been recognised as meeting the accreditation standards at Level 4 (Associate Degree and High Diploma equivalent) and Level 3 (Diploma equivalent) by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications. The course accreditation is the first of its kind among Hong Kong's disciplined services, and fully reflects the professionalism of correctional staff.
 
     New Officer and Assistant Officer II recruits will undergo 26 weeks and 23 weeks of residential training respectively at the Staff Training Institute. The recruit training programme covers the laws of Hong Kong and academic subjects such as sociology, criminology, counselling and psychology. It also covers foot drills, tactical training, physical fitness training, self-defence, weapons training, first-aid training, helicopter training and emergency response training.
 
     To meet daily operational needs, scenario training and simulation exercises are also provided for new recruits so that they can learn how to operate various types of security equipment and respond to emergency situations.
