First Greater Pearl River Delta Conservation Training Workshop begins in Hong Kong
**********************************************************************************
The first Greater Pearl River Delta (GPRD) Conservation Training Workshop was launched today (November 25) at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum to raise conservation standards, enhance exchanges on technologies and promote professional development in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.

Since the 16th GPRD Cultural Co-operation Meeting held last year, the three regions have been actively following up on the agenda to refine details of co-operation in conservation training. The first workshop, themed on "Conservation of Stone Relics and Built Heritage", was organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department with specialists from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau as speakers.

Addressing the opening ceremony, the Assistant Director of Leisure and Cultural Services (Heritage and Museums), Mr Chan Shing-wai, encouraged the trainees to make the best use of the learning opportunity with a view to putting the acquired knowledge into practice, and to endeavour to strengthen tripartite professional exchanges.

During the seven-day workshop, 14 trainees from various GPRD cultural institutions will learn through classroom teaching, experience sharing, demonstrations, group discussions and field trips in Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong. The programme will end in Guangzhou on December 1.
