Dismantling ceremony of "Doing Nothing Garden, Hong Kong 2015-2016" at Oi! to be held this Saturday

In November 2015, Song Dong presented an art project entitled "Doing Nothing Garden" for Oi!, with an accumulation of abandoned material from the community to build a potted landscape on which native plants and flowers could grow. The potted landscape is a "Freedom Ground" where visitors can conduct their own activities freely to echo Song's views on doing something or wasting something.
Since the establishment of "Doing Nothing Garden", Oi! has invited organisations and the public to be the co-creators and respond to Song's notion on "doing something, doing nothing, wasting something and wasting nothing" through various types of intervention activities in the Garden. Early this year, Song covered the traces of the free actions conducted in the Garden with soil. Seeds were sown and watered in the land, with "freedom" transforming into "fertiliser" or "poison" so that the new landscape seen today could be formed.
In the dismantling ceremony, the participating farmer will introduce the plants in "Doing Nothing Garden". Members of the public will be invited to harvest the plants and take them from the Garden to different corners of the city to let the spirit of freedom continue blossoming. Song will also respond to the personal letters from the public from the call to "write a letter to Song Dong" in the event.
