Public views sought on HIV/AIDS strategies
******************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS:

The Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS (ACA) today (November 7) released the draft Recommended HIV/AIDS Strategies for Hong Kong (2017-2021), seeking the public's views and comments on the next set of HIV/AIDS Strategies.

Since 1994, the ACA has published five sets of recommended HIV/AIDS Strategies which served as blueprints for the AIDS response in Hong Kong.

The ACA is currently working towards the formulation of its next set of HIV/AIDS Strategies for 2017 to 2021 by adopting a broad-based, participatory and integrated approach involving stakeholders to allow key parties to play an active role and contribute in the process.

Starting in the early stage of formulating the draft Strategies, an eight-week stakeholder consultation was held by ACA in October and November 2015, including eight sessions of consultation meetings and online collection of stakeholders' opinions. Further inputs from stakeholders on the draft Strategies were collected this year. The ACA has now come up with a revised draft Strategies ready for public consultation which has been uploaded to the ACA website.

Members of the public are encouraged to send their views and comments by postal mail (Secretariat, Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS, Third Floor, Wang Tau Hom Jockey Club Clinic, 200 Junction Road East, Kowloon), fax (2337 0897) or e-mail (aca@dh.gov.hk) on or before December 31, 2016.

For more information on previous and current Recommended HIV/AIDS Strategies, the public may visit the ACA website. For information about the local situation and programmes on HIV/AIDS, please visit the website of the Virtual AIDS Office.
