Appointments to Travel Industry Compensation Fund Management Board

Mr Kevin Lam Sze-cay and Ms Gilly Wong Fung-han have been re-appointed as the Chairman and a member of the TICFMB respectively. Dr Edwin Cheng Kwok-kit, Ms Kerry Ching Kim-wai and Mr Jason Wong Chun-tat have been appointed as new members of the TICFMB. The above appointments take effect on October 15, 2016, for two years.
"In the past four years, Mr Lam has made invaluable contributions to the work of the TICFMB. We are confident that under Mr Lam's able leadership, the TICFMB will continue to discharge effectively its statutory duties in protecting outbound travellers," a government spokesman said.
"We are grateful to the two retiring members, Ms Michelle Ip Mei-ho and Mr Michael Wu Siu-ieng, for their contributions to the work of the TICFMB. We also welcome Ms Wong's continued membership and three new members coming on board."
The TICFMB is a statutory body established under section 32B of the Travel Agents Ordinance (Chapter 218). It holds, manages and applies the Travel Industry Compensation Fund which provides ex gratia payment to outbound group or package travellers who suffer loss in the event of default by travel agents, and those who sustain injuries or death in accidents arising out of and in the course of activities provided or organised by the travel agents concerned while travelling abroad.
The composition of the TICFMB with effect from October 15, 2016, is as follows:
