Hong Kong Customs seized suspected Methamphetamine at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and Tin Shui Wai (with photos)

     Hong Kong Customs seized around 1.9 kilogram of suspected methamphetamine at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and Tin Shui Wai and arrested a man on September 23. The total market value of the drug was about $570,000.

     Customs officers intercepted an incoming male passenger at Lok Ma Chau Control Point on September 23 evening and found about one kilogram of suspected methamphetamine inside the messenger bag he was carrying. Upon follow-up investigation, Customs officers searched his residential premises in Tin Shui Wai and further seized about 900 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

     The man, aged 31, who claimed to be unemployed, was charged for two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The arrested person will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (September 26).

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
