SCS visits Land Registry (with photos)
**************************************
The Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Clement Cheung, visited the Land Registry today (September 22) to learn more about the work of the department and to take the opportunity to meet its staff.

Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Thomas Chow, Mr Cheung first met with the Land Registrar, Ms Doris Cheung, and the directorate staff. He noted that the Land Registry is committed to providing secure and customer-friendly land registration and information services for the community and is one of the first trading fund departments in Hong Kong.

Later, Mr Cheung visited the Customer Centre and learned more about how its deeds lodgement services and search services are delivered to the public. The Land Registry registers documents affecting land under the Land Registration Ordinance and provides facilities for search and supply of copies of land records.

Mr Cheung then visited the Registration Section, where he was given a demonstration of how the particulars contained in a memorial received on that day were entered into the computer system. The system will then generate a Memorial Day Book containing a record of the essential particulars of all memorials entered into the system on the day for inspection by the public on the next day.

In touring the Reports-on-Title & Owners Incorporation Section, Mr Cheung was briefed on how the Owners Incorporation Unit processes and approves applications for registration of owners' corporations, issues certificates of registration and maintains a register of corporations for public search.

Before concluding his visit, Mr Cheung met the staff representatives of various grades at a tea gathering to exchange views on their issues of concern. He praised colleagues for their dedication and efforts, and encouraged them to continue to provide customer-focused and quality services.
