Specialist Clinic Booking Mobile App "BookHA" extended to cover more specialties
********************************************************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The mobile application "BookHA" launched by the Hospital Authority (HA) in March this year to provide Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOPC) booking services will be extended to cover four more specialties in addition to gynaecology. A new built-in cancellation function has also been added to the app to facilitate members of public.

The HA spokesman said that starting from tomorrow (September 19), patients will be able to make SOPC new case bookings in gynaecology; ear, nose and throat; eye; neurosurgery and orthopaedics through "BookHA", instead of going to the clinics in person or sending applications by facsimile.

Patients who are unable to attend an SOPC appointment booked earlier via the app can also make use of the newly built-in “Booking Cancellation” function instead of calling the clinics.

"Since the launch in March this year, a total of 755 patients have successfully made an appointment at gynaecology SOPCs using the app. The SOPC operation in triage and processing requests has been smooth," the spokesman said.

The HA reminds patients that referral letters within three months of issue from local registered doctors are required for making new case booking at public SOPCs. Since March this year, most referral letters issued by the HA carry a 2D barcode which can be scanned with the built-in function of the app, saving the need to take photographs of referral letters page by page and uploading them.

"The HA will continue to roll out the mobile app booking arrangement to cover other specialties, with an objective of covering all major specialties within two years," the spokesman added.

"BookHA" can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store (supports iOS version 7.0 or above) or Google Play (supports Android version 4.1 or above), and is available in traditional Chinese and English.
