SCED to visit Spain and Peru

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will leave Hong Kong tomorrow (September 6) for a duty visit to Madrid in Spain and Lima in Peru from September 7 to 9. During the visit, Mr So will promote bilateral relation between Hong Kong and Spain, and attend the 23th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Small and Medium Enterprises Ministerial Meeting (SMEMM) to be held in Lima.
 
     Mr So will visit Madrid, Spain on September 7 (Madrid time), where he will meet with Spanish government officials and business leaders and call on the Chinese Embassy in Spain. He will leave for Lima, Peru on September 8.
 
     After arriving in Lima on September 8 (Lima time), Mr So will pay a courtesy call on the Chinese Embassy in Peru. He will also meet with government officials of Peru to promote Hong Kong's trade and economic relation with the country. In the evening, Mr So will attend the welcome dinner for APEC SME Ministers.
 
     Mr So will attend the SMEMM on September 9. The theme of the meeting is "SMEs as engines of growth and prosperity", under which ministers will focus their discussion on four areas, namely promoting innovation and connectivity for SMEs; strengthening high impact SMEs through digital transformation; integration of Green SMEs in global value chains; and internationalisation of SMEs.
 
     Mr So will return to Hong Kong on September 11. The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Godfrey Leung, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Mr So's absence.
