Hong Kong contemporary dance debuts at contemporary dance biennial in Düsseldorf (with photo)
******************************************************************************************
To showcase the diversity and vibrancy of Hong Kong contemporary dance, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), with the support of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin (HKETO Berlin), is bringing a delegation of more than 60 choreographers, dance artists and arts administrators to participate in the contemporary dance biennial "internationale tanzmesse nrw" (Tanzmesse) held in Düsseldorf, Germany from today (August 31, Düsseldorf time) to September 3. HKETO Berlin's Director, Ms Betty Ho, joined the welcome lunch hosted by HKADC today, together with some 100 guests from different countries.

A total of six unique Hong Kong dance pieces are to be staged in the Performance Programme and Open Studio at Tanzmesse 2016. In addition, the HKADC also participated in the Tanzmesse's exhibition to introduce Hong Kong's outstanding dance culture and artists and provide a platform for creative dialogues with overseas arts agents, buyers and festival directors. By establishing connections and strengthening ties with the international contemporary dance sector, HKADC aims to spin Hong Kong dance development into a new dimension.

Tanzmesse is an important dance expo dedicated exclusively to contemporary dance. The event creates a cross-region exchange platform to professional exhibitors and dancers. In 2014, about 1,400 visitors from 50 countries in America, Europe, Africa and Asia participated in Tanzmesse, including 340 exhibitors and 600 dance groups.
