World-class pianist Murray Perahia to return in October (with photo)
********************************************************************
World-renowned pianist Murray Perahia will make a welcome return to Hong Kong in October, following his acclaimed performance with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in 2014.

The poetic pianist will perform Haydn's "Variations in F Minor, Hob. XVII: 6" and Mozart's "Piano Sonata No. 8 in A Minor, K. 310", as well as five late piano works by Brahms and Beethoven’s most technically challenging piano composition, "Piano Sonata No. 29, 'Hammerklavier'".

In more than 40 years of performing on the concert stage, Perahia has become one of the most sought-after and cherished pianists of our time, performing in all of the major international music centres and with every leading orchestra.

Perahia has a wide and varied discography. His recording of Brahms' "Handel Variations" won him a Gramophone Award in 2011. He is also the recipient of two Grammy Awards for his recordings of Chopin's complete "Etudes" and Bach's "English Suites Nos. 1, 3 and 6".

Perahia is an honorary fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, and he holds honorary doctorates from the Juilliard School, University of Oxford, the Royal College of Music in London, University of Leeds and Duke University. In 2004, he was awarded an honorary KBE by Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, in recognition of his outstanding service to music.
