Find favourite social enterprise restaurants at food expo and online platforms

The Home Affairs Department (HAD) has been promoting SEs through diverse channels with a view to showing the public their quality products and services as well as the social missions of SEs. This summer, the HAD has arranged for seven SEs to showcase their products at the annual Hong Kong Trade Development Council Food Expo 2016 at Booth A18 of Hall 1E, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Details are set out in the Annex. The Food Expo will be open from 10am to 10pm from August 11 to 14, and from 10am to 6pm on August 15. The admission fee is $25 and admission is free for children aged 3 or below and senior citizens aged 65 or above.
Following the launch of a promotion campaign with OpenRice early this year, the HAD has recently collaborated with iPick to enable the public to search SE restaurants through its online platform. Members of the public can now have easy access to information on about 80 SE restaurants by searching for "social enterprise" on these two online platforms.
A spokesman for the HAD said, "SEs need to achieve their dual targets. Apart from creating jobs for the underprivileged and encouraging self-reliance, SEs have to sustain their business run in a commercial mode. Following the public's increasing awareness of SEs and recognition of their missions, promoting SEs through online platforms and trade fairs aims to provide more easily accessible information on SEs for the public to learn more about the quality and variety of their products and services so as to encourage more people to patronise SEs."
