Music Delight Series to offer exciting concerts this autumn
***********************************************************
Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Music Delight Series 2016 will offer music lovers a variety of exciting concerts this autumn.

The first concert is by O Duo from the United Kingdom, featuring percussion specialists Oliver Cox and Owen Gunnell. O Duo will perform various pieces on percussion instruments including marimbas, glockenspiel and bongos. In addition to works by music icons Philip Glass and Steve Reich, the programme will also feature rearranged favourites by Bach and Vivaldi. O Duo will also be collaborating with two local percussionists, Sabrina Ma and Raymond Vong, as a percussion quartet. An intriguing audio-visual journey into the world of percussion, the concert by O Duo will be staged at 8pm on September 24 (Saturday) at the Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre. Tickets are priced at $160, $200 and $240.

The second group in the series is b vocal from Spain, promising an entertaining selection of a cappella singing. b vocal will deliver two spectacular performances, blending their unique voices and humour into a programme of great vocal music including gospel, carols, pop songs and great movie soundtracks. The concerts by b vocal will be staged at 8pm on October 28 (Friday) at the Auditorium, Sha Tin Town Hall; and on October 29 (Saturday) at the Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets are priced ranging from $120 to $240.

Third in the series is Five Sax, modern-style saxophone quintet comprising musicians Joel Diegert, Michal Knot, Alvaro Collao Leon, Pieter Pellens and Damiano Grandesso from the United States, Poland, Chile, Belgium and Italy. Five Sax promise to take music lovers on a multi-continental trip called "Saxvoyage", beginning in one of the legendary capitals of music, Vienna. They then embark on a journey of musical exploration of the rich ethnic musical styles of Spain, Italy, Hungary and the Balkans. Next they take the audience to Rio de Janeiro to experience the seductive rhythms of Brazilian Bossa Nova, the passion of Argentine tango, and there's even a visit to the mystical Colombian town of Macondo. The last stop of the "voyage" will be sunny Los Angeles to rediscover some of the most famous Hollywood hits. "Saxvoyage" by Five Sax will be staged at 8pm on November 5 (Saturday) at the Auditorium, Yuen Long Theatre. Tickets are priced at $120, $200 and $280.

The Philharmonics will offer the final attraction of the Music Delight Series 2016. This unique ensemble brings together four members of the Vienna Philharmonic, one Berlin Philharmonic player, an internationally renowned jazz pianist and an improvisation-fascinated violinist for a deliciously heady cocktail of virtuosity, passion and good old fun. The musicians' diverse ethnic and musical backgrounds guide their choice of repertoire, which ranges from classical music to Hungarian folk music, jazz and Latin, giving audiences something of everything. The concert programme includes works by Saint-Saëns, Mancini, Verdi, Bassi, Halévy, Neufeld, Kováč, Kreisler, Satie and Feliciano, all served with a twist of improvisation. The concert by The Philharmonics will be staged at 8pm on December 16 (Friday) at the Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets are priced at $150, $220, $280 and $350.
