DGCA pays courtesy call on Civil Aviation Administration of China

     The Director-General of Civil Aviation, Mr Simon Li, paid a courtesy call on the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in Beijing between July 6 and 8 to further reinforce the close co-operation between the CAAC and the Civil Aviation Department on civil aviation matters.

     Mr Li called on Deputy Administrators of the CAAC Mr Li Jian and Mr Wang Zhiqing separately to exchange views on strengthening co-operation and exchange between the Mainland and Hong Kong in respect of civil aviation. In addition, Mr Li also met with the Director-General of the Air Traffic Management Bureau of the CAAC, Mr Che Jinjun, to exchange views on Pearl River Delta air traffic management.

     In order to forge closer ties and co-operation, Mr Li also visited the China Rescue and Salvage Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, which is responsible for the provision of emergency response to marine accidents in Chinese waters, and other CAAC units during his visit, including the Office of Aviation Safety, which is responsible for investigation of civil aircraft accidents in the Mainland, as well as the Flight Inspection Centre of the CAAC, which is responsible for providing flight inspection services for navigation, surveillance and communication equipment as well as flight procedures in Mainland civil airports.

     Mr Li also paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of the Department of Exchange and Cooperation of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Qian Yibing.

     Accompanying Mr Li to Beijing were the Deputy Director-General of Civil Aviation (2), Mr Kevin Choi, and the Assistant Director-General of Civil Aviation (Air Traffic Management), Mr Raymond Li.

     Mr Li will return to Hong Kong tomorrow (July 9).
