Transcript of remarks by CS at media session (with video)
*********************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, at a media session in the Legislative Council Complex today (July 6):

Reporter: Mrs Lam, why would the Government still insist on putting out this bill when there are two livelihood bills behind it?

Chief Secretary for Administration: No, this bill is as important, if not more important, than the two other bills on columbarium and fire services engineering regulation, because this is a bill about every one of us, because one day we will be sick, and we may have complaints about the practice of doctors. Then we need to approach the Medical Council for justice. This bill is also about relieving the severe medical doctor shortage in the public hospitals. So all of us one day will need to go to the public hospitals, so we have 7 million people's interest at stake. So it is absolutely groundless for Government to make any concession on this bill. We will press ahead with the bill, and I would appeal to the Honourable Leung Ka-lau to reflect sincerely and seriously on the public interest.
