CE to visit France

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, will pay an official visit to France from June 7 to 10 to meet with political and business leaders. He will also lead 19 students of engineering-related disciplines from Hong Kong tertiary institutions to visit aviation technology, scientific research, innovation and technology institutions in Toulouse and Paris.

     Upon arrival on June 7, Mr Leung will first meet with the President of Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrénées Region, Mrs Carole Delga, in Toulouse and attend a luncheon hosted by the Regional Council. Mr Leung will then visit Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (National School of Civil Aviation) and Airbus facilities. He will also attend a dinner hosted by Cathay Pacific and Airbus.

     On the next day, Mr Leung will visit Toulouse Airport and Oncopole, a cancer research centre. He will depart Toulouse for the Plateau de Saclay in Paris in the afternoon to visit CentraleSupélec, a training and research centre for the Paris-Saclay technology cluster. In the evening, he will attend a dinner hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development of France, Mr Jean-Marc Ayrault, and meet with Hong Kong people living in France.

     On June 9, Mr Leung will meet with the Prime Minister of France, Mr Manuel Valls. He will also visit an incubator and attend a luncheon hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. In the afternoon, he will meet with the France-China Friendship Group of the French National Assembly. Mr Leung will depart for Hong Kong in the evening.

     During the visit, Mr Leung will be accompanied by the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung; the Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Nicholas W Yang; the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Edward Yau; and the Director of Information Services, Mr Patrick Nip.

     Mr Leung will depart for Paris in the early morning on June 7 and return to Hong Kong in the afternoon on June 10. During his absence, the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will be the Acting Chief Executive.
