Taiwanese restaurant POS solutions company expands business in Asia via Hong Kong (with photos)
************************************************************

Taiwanese company iCHEF, which offers point-of-sales (POS) solutions for restaurants, announced today (April 20) that it has opened its first overseas office in Hong Kong to provide operation systems and service solutions tailored for small and medium restaurant chains.

iCHEF develops an iPad-based system designed to help restaurants streamline their POS operations. The bespoke technology simplifies and increases operational efficiency throughout the business process, from arranging seats, taking orders, paying bills and printing receipts to offering discounts, following-up on the particular diet requirements of customers and more. It can also streamline staff management, sales and accounts reporting into one step, allowing restaurants to focus resources on delivering services and hence driving sales, according to iCHEF's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Benjamin Wu.

The business idea stems from his own experience as a restauranteur. "We founded our restaurant in Taiwan and at the time it was difficult to find a POS system with customisable features that catered to our own needs. So we developed iCHEF, which has proven successful in other restaurants. We believe that many of the huge number of small restaurants in Hong Kong are also as keen to have an affordable and tailored POS system to improve their workflow, which implies reducing manpower and costs," said Mr Wu.

"Hong Kong is not only close to our headquarters in Taiwan but also the ideal global platform to show our technology and services to the world. From a branding perspective, setting up in Hong Kong is crucial to our global expansion plan in the long run," he added.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Mr Charles Ng said, "iCHEF is a timely start-up that satisfies local needs and will grow on the thriving food and beverage (F&B) scene in Hong Kong. It is also another example of how technology application can benefit business operations. Hong Kong is both an F&B capital and an information and communications technology hub in Asia, offering a perfect environment for innovative companies like iCHEF. I wish it every success."
