Launch of the Senior Police Call "Fight Crime Vigour" (with photos)
************************************************************

Police today (November 24) launched the Senior Police Call (SPC) Fight Crime Vigour publicity truck to promote anti-crime messages among the public.

The "SPC Fight Crime Vigour" will tour around the territory in the next four months to spread fight crime messages. Making its debut at the Sau Mau Ping Road Safety Town today, the truck will visit 24 locations in the coming twelve days to promote road safety.

Officiating at the launching ceremony, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Support), Mr Lam Man-wing, noted that the number of traffic accidents with casualties and fatalities involving senior citizens amounted to 2,487 in January to September in 2015, a four percent increase compared with 2,380 in the same period last year. The number of traffic accidents involving senior citizens also accounted for 21 percent of the total number of traffic accidents. With the launch of "SPC Fight Crime Vigour", Mr Lam hoped that road safety awareness could be enhanced among the elderly.

In the coming weeks, SPC members will distribute leaflets on road safety at the 24 stopping points to remind members of the public, in particular the elderly, to comply with road traffic regulations. Computer games and information stations will be available on the publicity truck, where senior citizens can gain better understanding on different fight crime themes. The next theme for the ˇ§Fight Crime Vigourˇ¨ will be crime prevention tips in winter.
