1st National Youth Games Virtual Torch Relay passes through HK (with photos)

     The 1st National Youth Games (NYG) will be held from October 18 to 27 in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, this year. To mark the occasion, the NYG Organising Committee held a torch lighting ceremony in Fuzhou on July 10 and adopted the new mode of a virtual torch relay through 59 participating cities nationwide by the NYG mascot Rongrong.

     The virtual torch relay arrived in Hong Kong today (August 12). As a way to receive the virtual torch, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department set up a dedicated webpage to disseminate messages of the virtual torch relay (

     The virtual relay has been conducted in three separate routes, namely the western, northern and southern routes, in which Hong Kong is one of the torch relay cities of the southern route. The torch relay will end its virtual journey when it returns to Fuzhou on October 11. For details of the virtual torch relay, please visit the official website (

     The NYG, formerly known as the National Intercity Games, is the largest national multi-sports event organised by the General Administration of Sport of China this year. Hong Kong will send more than 200 athletes to take part in a maximum of 21 competition events at the Games.
