The 2014-15 Sha Tin District winter precaution and fight crime publicity programmes commenced today (January 31). Activities mainly include winter precaution publicity, a sharing session between the officiating guest and the youths, and the 2014-2015 Sha Tin District Winter Precaution and Fight Crime Carnival cum Outstanding Police Officer Award and Good Citizen Award Presentation Ceremony (Fight Crime Carnival), in recognition of police officers' outstanding performance as well as good citizens who assisted the Police in fighting crime.
Former Commissioner of Police Mr Dick Lee was invited as an officiating guest at the Fight Crime Carnival. Other guests included the District Officer (Sha Tin), Ms Cora Ho; the Sha Tin District Council (STDC) Chairman, Mr Ho Hau-cheung; the STDC Vice-Chairman, Mr Pang Cheung-wai; and the Police District Commander (Sha Tin), Miss Evelyn Lam.
Mr Lee and dozens of youths from Sha Tin District visited Ma On Shan Police Station this morning, with a view to deepening their understanding of the work of the Police, building up mutual confidence and helping to fight crime collectively. Mr Lee spoke with the youths after the visit and shared with them his experiences and his life before and after retirement from the Police. He also encouraged the youths to strive and achieve their goals.
The Fight Crime Carnival, one of the activities of Sha Tin Festival 2014, aims at disseminating messages of crime fighting and winter precautions. It is co-organised by the Sha Tin District Fight Crime Committee and the Sha Tin District Office, assisted by the Police and sponsored by the STDC.
