Transcript of remarks by SLW on wage claims by ATV employees
************************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, on the wage claims by ATV employees today (January 10):

Reporter: (about the situation of December wages for ATV employees)

Secretary for Labour and Welfare: We are dealing with the matter according to the law. In fact, the Labour Department inspectors have visited ATV and interviewed some staff there. We have now secured the co-operation of a few employees to act as prosecution witnesses. And also we have gathered some evidences and we are now collating the evidences, analysing it and we will be passing the report to the Department of Justice for advice. Once we have got clear advice from the Department of Justice that there is a case for prosecution, we will certainly act accordingly.

Reporter: How long will that take?

Secretary for Labour and Welfare: I don't think it will take a very long time. But the question is of course whether we have sufficient evidence. If there is sufficient evidence as I said before, then we will certainly take a prosecution.
