LCSD to hold hip hop and jazz dance talks

Three locally acclaimed hip hop and jazz dancers - Angela Hang, Hongboy Chan and Rock Fong - will hold four dance appreciation talks in December and January next year.

The trio will introduce audiences to hip hop and jazz dance history and development, showcasing the dance styles that were founded in the US and have become popular with youngsters. The first two lectures will begin with history and introduce different styles of hip hop dance, including breaking and boogaloo. The third and fourth lectures will explore how jazz dance absorbs characteristics from ballet, musical dance, contemporary dance and street dance and how it evolved its unique dance step. Videos will be shown in the lectures to present the characteristics of the two dance genres.
