CE encourages trade and investment liberalisation at APEC meetings (with photos/videos)

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, today (November 10) reiterated the importance of trade and investment liberalisation in fostering Asia-Pacific partnership in economic development during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2014 Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) in Beijing.

     At the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Dialogue in the afternoon, Mr Leung discussed with leaders of other participating economies a broad range of key recommendations set out in the 2014 ABAC Annual Report to APEC Leaders, including accelerating trade and investment liberalisation, achieving a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific, accelerating infrastructure development and facilitating infrastructure investment, promoting green growth, and achieving food security.

     Earlier in the morning, Mr Leung held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, to exchange views on matters of mutual concerns.

     Mr Leung will join other economic leaders at the AELM Welcome Dinner and Cultural Performance in the evening.

     The Chief Executive will attend the AELM Retreat and the Leaders' Working Lunch tomorrow (November 11). He will pay visits to central ministries in Beijing before his departure in the evening of November 12.
