The Secretary for Education (SED), Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, leading an education delegation from Hong Kong, concluded his five-day duty visit to Germany and Switzerland yesterday (November 7, Zurich time) for extensive exchanges with officials, academics, professionals and the business sector on vocational education.
The SED met with the Deputy Director of State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation of the Swiss Confederation, Mr Josef Widmer, to exchange views on how to strengthen the promotion of vocational education in Bern yesterday morning.
The delegates then travelled to Zurich. They visited the KV Zurich Business School and learnt from the Principal, Mr Rene Portenier, about the vocational education and training programme in the commercial sector. The school is the largest commercial vocational school in Switzerland.
Prior to their departure from Zurich, the delegates visited a metal product manufacturer, Ernst Schweizer AG, and met with the Head of Vocational Education and Training, Mr Xavier Nietlisbach, to learn about its apprenticeship programme.
The delegates will return to Hong Kong in the evening today (November 8).
