The Lands Department today (June 18) announced that the tender for a petrol filling station site, Sha Tin Town Lot No. 589 at 1 Man Lai Road, Tai Wai, Sha Tin, New Territories, has been awarded to Chevron Hong Kong Limited on a 21-year land grant at a premium of $136.868 million.
"Authority from the Central Tender Board was given to the Lands Department to award the site to the highest tenderer," a Lands Department spokesman said.
The site is an existing, re-tendered site. The successful tender was submitted on an individual basis.
The tenderers, other than the successful tenderer, in alphabetical order with the name of the parent company where provided by the tenderer in brackets were:
Sha Tin Town Lot No. 589
(1) ExxonMobil Hong Kong Limited
(2) Sinopec (Hong Kong) Limited (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation)
As for another petrol filling station site at New Kowloon Inland Lot No. 6543 at 779 Lai Chi Kok Road, Kowloon, which is also a re-tendered site, the Government has rejected the only tender which had been received when the tender closed on June 13. The tenderer was Chevron Hong Kong Limited.
"Authority from the Central Tender Board was given to the Lands Department to reject the tender as the tendered premium does not meet the Government's reserve price for the site," the spokesman said.
