LEOC Global Asia Co Ltd (LGA), a subsidiary of catering service company LEOC Co Ltd, celebrated the opening of its high-end sushi and teppanyaki restaurants in Hong Kong today (June 13).

Located in Sheung Wan, the new restaurant has 35 seats and combines two of the company's restaurant brands, namely Sushi Ginza Onodera and Teppanyaki Ginza Sumikawa offering fine dining for discerning customers.

The Chief Executive of LEOC Global Asia Co Ltd, Mr Jun Kato, said, "Apart from Ginza, we have also opened Sushi Ginza Onodera in Hawaii and Paris, which have been well received by customers. Hong Kong has a very sophisticated high-end restaurant industry, particularly for Japanese cuisine. The market is competitive yet promising in terms of growth amid huge demand from locals and tourists.

"Hong Kong has a distinct culture and strong links to Japan, which means a favourable environment for Japanese companies to operate in. Its low tax rate was an added attraction in our decision to come to this market," he added.

LGA is the group's first overseas office to manage its global Japanese restaurant business and contracted food service business outside Japan. The Hong Kong office is also a regional headquarters for Southeast Asia expansion.

The Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Andrew Davis, welcomed LGA joining Hong Kong's catering sector. He said, "Locals and tourists from different parts of the world demand diverse dining experiences, hence Hong Kong offers a good platform for international restaurant brands to build their global awareness. Over the years, the city has also seen a deep pool of F&B management talent. All of this creates opportunities for foreign investors like LGA."
