Exhibition catalogue published to commemorate Bruce Lee's 73rd birthday (with photos)

     To commemorate the 73rd birthday of famous martial arts movie star Bruce Lee on November 27, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum has specially produced an exhibition catalogue based on the exhibition "Bruce Lee: Kung FuĦEArtĦELife", to be available at its book shop from early December.

     The catalogue will contain articles written by four scholars focusing on Lee's public profile, his movies, his martial arts skills and his development as a cultural phenomenon. The catalogue includes more than 160 selected photographs and images of exhibits featured in the exhibition covering Lee's childhood and family, film career, costumes, books, training equipment, memorabilia and items related to the American TV series "The Green Hornet". Priced at just $140, the 340-page catalogue is must-have item for anyone who wants to learn more about Bruce Lee.

     Additionally, those who visit the "Bruce Lee: Kung FuĦEArtĦELife" exhibition on November 27 can get a free set of mini nunchaku on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last. Visitors can also take pictures at the "Bruce Lee Fans Photo Studio" on weekends during November and December.

     Running for five years, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum launched the large-scale exhibition "Bruce Lee: Kung FuĦEArtĦELife" on July 20 to mark the 40th anniversary of Lee's death. Since its opening, the exhibition has been well-received by the public and tourists from around the world, with more than 210 000 visitors to date.

     The exhibition is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and is jointly organised by the Bruce Lee Foundation and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. It is sponsored by Fortune Star Media Limited, and is one of the highlight programmes of the "Vibrant Hong Kong" theme under the territory-wide "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign launched this year.

     To tie in with the exhibition, a 75-minute-long documentary titled "The Brilliant Life of Bruce Lee" is being shown at the theatre of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. The documentary will be screened at 10.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and at 10.30am, 12.15pm, 2pm, 3.45pm and 5.30pm on Sundays and public holidays. Holders of the museum's admission tickets will be given free entry. The documentary will not be screened on Saturdays, when the theatre of the museum is reserved for Cantonese opera performances.

     The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is open from 10am to 6pm on weekdays, and from 10am to 7pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. On Christmas Eve and Chinese New Year's Eve, the museum will open at 10am and close at 5pm. It is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays) and the first two days of the Chinese New Year. The standard admission ticket is $10 with a half-price concession available for full-time students, people with disabilities and senior citizens aged 60 or above. Group tickets at $7 each are available to groups of 20 persons or more. Admission is free on Wednesdays.

     The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is located at 1 Man Lam Road, Sha Tin. Paid car parking is available at the museum. Those who prefer to use public transport may take the MTR Ma On Shan Line and get off at Che Kung Temple Station, which is within three minutes' walk of the museum.
