The Government announced today (August 30) the appointment of five new members and the re-appointment of five incumbent members to the Lotteries Fund Advisory Committee (the Committee) for a term of two years with effect from September 1.
The five new members are Professor Lam Ching-man, Dr Sigmund Leung Sai-man, Ms Loretta Lo Yee-hang, Mr Timothy Ma Kam-wah and Professor Helen Meng Mei-ling.
Professor Lam Ching-man is Vice Chairperson of the Department of Social Work of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is a member of the Women's Commission, Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB) and Criminal and Law Enforcement Injuries Compensation (CLEIC) Boards.
Dr Sigmund Leung Sai-man is President of the Hong Kong Dental Association. He is a member of the Health and Medical Development Advisory Committee.
Ms Loretta Lo Yee-hang is a solicitor and an elected Central and Western District Councillor. She is a member of the Appeal Tribunal Panel (Buildings) and CLEIC Boards.
Mr Timothy Ma Kam-wah, a Senior Project Consultant of the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, is a member of the Elderly Commission, SWRB and Town Planning Board.
Professor Helen Meng Mei-ling is Chairman of the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is a member of the Hong Kong Productivity Council.
Five incumbent members, namely Mr David Chan Wai-ming, Mr Nelson Cheng Wai-hung, Mr Joseph Man Hung-yee, Mr Suen Lai-sang and Ms Connie Wong Wai-ching, have been re-appointed.
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the appointments. "The members come from a wide range of professions. Their expertise and experience will be conducive to the work of the Committee. I look forward to their valuable advice on the work of the Committee," he said.
He also thanked the five outgoing members, Dr Chan Wah-fat, Mr Chan Wai-to, Mrs Joanna Li Lau Lai-hing, Ms Anna Tang King-yung and Mr Yeung Yuet-bor for their sterling contributions during their tenure.
The Committee, chaired by the Director of Social Welfare, advises on applications from welfare organisations for allocations from the Lotteries Fund and on charitable fund-raising issues including the allocation of flag days.
