The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, visited the St James' Settlement Scenic Resort (Nursing Home) in Shau Kei Wan this afternoon (February 11) to extend her Lunar New Year greetings to the elderly and staff members there.

It has been a Lunar New Year activity of Mrs Lam's for a couple of years to visit the elderly living in nursing homes or elderly singletons while she is in town. She has shared a good time with them and has given them Lunar New Year gifts.

As a former Director of Social Welfare, Mrs Lam took the opportunity to visit the facilities at the nursing home to better understand the latest service delivery. She also expressed her gratitude to social welfare staff for their dedication and hard work despite the holidays.

The Scenic Resort (Nursing Home), which came into operation in July 2006, is one of the service units under St James' Settlement and offers 24-hour holistic and professional care to frail elderly persons. It provides 49 residential care places subvented by the Government and 75  self-financed residential care places.

Later tonight, Mrs Lam will attend the launch ceremony of the 2013 Lunar New Year Fireworks Display co-sponsored by the Hong Kong Chinese Importers' and Exporters' Association and the Hongkong Hainan Commercial Association.
