The following is the transcript of the remarks (English portion) made by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, at a media stand-up after attending a radio phone-in programme today (March 1):
Reporter: A Chinese restaurant just closed down. How is the Labour Department going to help its employees?
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare: I am very concerned about this case. The Labour Department will do what it can to help the employees concerned and will also go after the employer to make sure that he or she fulfills his or her responsibility as an employer and pay wages accordingly.
