The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 29) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $90,000 on behalf of five employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The four defendants, Lee Ying Fat trading as Kui Wing, Asian Rise Limited, Cheung Hing Steel Furniture Manufacturing Company Limited and Chung Kin Tai trading as Tai Cheong Neon Light Co., did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $35,381.04, $21,418.5, $17,730.42 and $14,644.38, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further awarded $170, $210, $126 and $150 as the costs in respect of the claims.
