The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 16) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $80,000 on behalf of 14 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At today's hearing, the defendants, Chung Lai Chun trading as Outstand and Lai Wing trading as Wing Kee Rice Flour Roll Factory, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $49,752.76 and $2,450.44, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other defendants, Kuen Kee Kwok Wing (HK) Transportation And Stevedores Co. Limited and New City Label Printing Company Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $27,022.1 and  $3,582.5, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $230, $130, $180 and $122 as the costs in respect of the claims.
