Proposed footpath of Junk Bay Chinese Permanent Cemetery gazetted

The following is issued on behalf of the Board of Management of the Chinese Permanent Cemeteries:

     A proposed footpath linking Junk Bay Chinese Permanent Cemetery with Tiu Keng Leng Mass Transit Railway (MTR) Station, Sai Kung, has been gazetted today (March 16).

     The roadworks proposed by the Board of Management of the Chinese Permanent Cemeteries include the construction of a permanent footpath linking the Junk Bay Chinese Permanent Cemetery with future footpaths of proposed roads within Tiu Keng Leng, and the construction of a temporary footpath connecting the permanent footpath with Chui Ling Road near the Tiu Keng Leng MTR Station. The layout plan of the proposed footpath is shown on Annex.

     The proposed footpath will be developed into a leisure walking trail with provision of rest shelters, soft landscaping and other ancillary facilities.

     The temporary footpath will be demolished upon completion of the future footpath of proposed roads within Tiu Keng Leng.

     Resumption of land is not required. Throughout the construction period, necessary access will be maintained to ensure that any inconvenience caused to the public will be kept to the minimum.

     Details of the proposed road works were published in today's Government Gazette and a notice, both in English and Chinese, can be seen on the notice boards posted near the site of the proposed footpath.

     Copies of the plan and the scheme of the proposed works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(1)  Public Enquiry Service Centre, Central and Western District Office (Address: Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen¡¦s Road Central, Hong Kong);

(2)  Public Enquiry Service Centre, Sai Kung District Office (Address: 1st Floor, King Lam Neighbourhood Community Centre, King Lam Estate, Tseung Kwan O); and

(3) District Lands Office, Sai Kung (Address: 3rd Floor, Sai Kung Government Offices Building, 34 Chan Man Street, Sai Kung, New Territories).

     Any person wishing to object to the proposal should send his objection, in writing, to the Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong on or before May 15, 2007.
