*************************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (June 26) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $60,000 on behalf of three employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At today's hearing, defendants, Kayart Bus Limited and Lo Kam Chuen trading as Sun Jade Garden Canteen, did not dispute the amounts claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of  $33,589.86 and $33,407.44, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The third defendant, Grand International Investments Company Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $1,642.36, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $160, $160 and $200 as the costs in respect of the claims.
