The Government will deploy artificial reefs at Tung Ping Chau Marine Park to provide artificial fisheries habitat for ecological enhancement and to protect the marine park from trawling activities.
The artificial reefs will be composed of demolished pier structures and concrete modules made of non-polluting materials.
The works, which will affect about 9,075 square metres of foreshore and sea-bed, are scheduled to begin in July, 2006, for completion in 24 months.
A notice describing the extent of area affected is published in the Government Gazette today (March 24).
The notice together with a related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site. The plan can also be inspected at the Lands Departmentˇ¦s Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road and at the Tai Po District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, Tai Po Government Offices Building, 1 Ting Kok Road.
Any person who has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved can submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th Floor, North Point Government Offices, on or before May 24, 2006.
