Traffic Arrangements on December 11

    To facilitate the erection of the water-filled barriers, the following traffic arrangements will be implemented in Wan Chai North, in addition to the traffic diversions at Lung Wui Road and Fenwick Pier Street implemented earlier.

     All traffic will not be allowed to enter the following sections of roads with effect from 6am on Sunday, December 11, 2005:  :

(a) Tim Mei Avenue, except for access to and from the car park of the Citic Tower.  Vehicles exiting from that car park are diverted to Gloucester Road eastbound;

(b) Convention Avenue between Fleming Road and Harbour Road;

(c) Harbour Road Eastbound between Fleming Road and Convention Avenue ; and

(d) Expo Drive East.

     The terminus of Citybus route no. 25A and 25C and KMB route no. 373A and 961 will be relocated to Wan Chai Ferry Pier bus terminus at the same time.  

     Traffic signs will be in place to guide motorists.

     Meanwhile, members of the public are advised to note the special traffic and transport arrangement to facilitate the public procession associated with HKMC from Victoria Park to Central Government Offices via Hennessy Road to be held on Sunday, December 11, from Victoria Park to Central Government Offices via Causeway Road, Irving Street, Pennington Street, Yee Wo Street, Hennessy Road, Queensway and Queen's Road Central.

     Motorists are advised to avoid traveling to the affected areas, especially Wan Chai North and use public transport where possible.
 
     In addition, drivers of goods vehicles and articulated vehicles should refrain from entering roads north of Gloucester Road in Wan Chai North during the period.

     Appropriate traffic aids will be erected to guide motorists and notices will be displayed by public transport operators to advise passengers of the above arrangements.  Actual implementation of the road closure, traffic and public transport diversions will be made by the Police at the time depending on conditions in the areas.  Strict enforcements, including multiple ticketing and towing, will be taken by the Police in the affected areas

 A.    ROAD CLOSURE
 Depending on the scale of the procession, the following road closures will be implemented from time to time and by intervals during the procession:    
 (a)               The westbound carriageway of Causeway Road, Yee Wo Street, Hennessy Road, Queensway and Queen??s Road Central between Queensway and Pedder Street;
(b)               Gloucester Road southbound between Causeway Bay flyover and Causeway Road;
(c)               Paterson Street;
(d)               Great George Street;
(e)               Sugar Street;
(f)                 Cleveland Street;
(g)               Kai Chiu Road;
(h)               Irving Street;
(i)                 Moreton Terrace;
(j)                  Fenwick Street between Hennessy Road and Johnston Road;
(k)               Garden Road between Garden Road Flyover and Queensway;
(l)                  Ice House Street between Lower Albert Road and Des Voeux Road Central; and
(m)             Lower Albert Road between Garden Road and Ice House Street.
 
Additional road closures may also be implemented by the Police.

B.    TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS
 
(a)                Traffic along King¡¦s Road westbound will be diverted to turn right onto Hing Fat Street to Gloucester Road; or to turn left onto Tung Lo Wan Road to Leighton Road;
(b)                Tung Lo Wan Road will be re-routed to one way westbound;
(c)                Traffic along Percival Street southbound will be diverted to turn right onto Lockhart Road westbound;
(d)                Traffic along Lockhart Road eastbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Percival Street southbound;
(e)                Traffic along Leighton Road westbound will be diverted to turn left onto Wong Nai Chung Road;
(f)                  Traffic along Queen??s Road East westbound will be diverted to turn left onto Justice Drive;
(g)                Trafic along Queensway eastbound will be prohibited from turning right onto Queen??s Road East; and
(h)                Traffic along Garden Road northbound will be diverted to Garden Road flyover.
 
Additional traffic diversions may also be implemented by the Police.  
 
 
C.    PUBLIC TRANSPORTS ARRANGEMENTS
 
       Bus and GMB Diversions
 
Depending on the scale of the procession, the following bus and GMB routes along the procession route will be altered from time to time and by intervals during the procession.
