Six employers fined for breaching MPFS Ordinance

    Six employers were fined a total of $63,600 at the Kwun Tong Magistracy today (October 3), after being convicted of offences under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance.

     In the first case, the defendant, Universal Cleaning Services Limited was fined $7,000 after pleading guilty of failing to enrol an employee in an MPF scheme.

     The defendant in the second case, Rich Engineering Limited, pleaded guilty to 16 counts of failing to make MPF contributions on time between November 2002 and February 2004. The defendant was fined $6,000 for the first summons and $2,000 each for the remaining 15 summonses, totalling $36,000.

     The defendant in the third case, Ng Kam Ming trading as Chung Kee Delicious, pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to make MPF contributions on time, after making deduction from the income of one employee between May and July 2003. The defendant was fined $4,000 for the first summons, $2,000 each for the remaining 2 summonses, totalling $8,000.

     The defendant in the fourth case, Mass 8 Computer Service Limited was fined $2,600 after pleading guilty to one count of failing to make MPF contributions on time, after making deduction from the income of an employee on January 2005.

     The two defendants in the fifth case, Leung Lai Kuen and Leung Shu Keung trading as Wai Ming Hong, pleaded guilty to eight counts of failing to make MPF contributions on time after making deduction from the income of one employee between October, 2003 and January, 2004.  The defendants each was fined $2,000 each for the first and fifth summonses and $1,000 each for the other six summonses, totalling $10,000.
