Hong Kong Observatory Open Day to be held this weekend

     The annual Open Day of the Hong Kong Observatory will take place on March 24 (Saturday) and March 25 (Sunday).

     Adopting the theme of this year's World Meteorological Day - "Weather Ready, Climate Smart", the exhibitions at the Open Day will show how the Observatory applies the latest technology to provide various services including weather forecasting, aviation weather, microclimate monitoring and radiation monitoring.  As this year marks the 135th anniversary of the Observatory, the exhibitions will also introduce the history of the Observatory. 

     Apart from viewing the exhibits and playing at the game booths, visitors will have the chance to take photographs with the Director of the Observatory, Mr Shun Chi-ming, and the Observatory mascot, Dr Tin.  TV weather presenters from the Observatory will also demonstrate hosting of TV weather programmes.

Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters (134A Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui)

Time:
March 24 (Saturday)     noon to 4.30pm
March 25 (Sunday)       10am to 4.30pm

     In anticipation of a large number of visitors, crowd control measures with one-way flow will be implemented.  Visitors should enter via the front gate on Nathan Road and exit at the back gate on Observatory Road.
