Hong Kong Museum of Art to hold "Museum of Art on Wheels" Summer Party this Saturday
************************************************************************************
The second phase of the "Museum of Art on Wheels" Outreach Learning Programme organised by the Hong Kong Museum of Art will conclude with a "Summer Party" this Saturday (July 22). Various attractions including the mobile museum, art workshops and candy art demonstrations will enable participants to appreciate and experience diverse styles of Chinese calligraphy art. Members of the public are invited to participate and admission is free.

The "Summer Party" will be held in the afternoon at the Piazza of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Several young artists have been invited to organise art workshops to demonstrate calligraphy arts using distinct mediums to tie in with this year's theme, "Hong Kong Sign.Hong Kong Signature".

Local artist Tse Ming-chong will conduct the "Poetry‧Photography" workshop for participants to take snapshots of the city, which can then be reconstructed and integrated with words to form poems. Artist Ko Hiu-ming, also known as "Mr Candy", will manipulate barley sugar to create Chinese calligraphy, allowing visitors to witness this traditional Chinese handicraft which has over 400 years of history. In addition, students from the Education University of Hong Kong will conduct the art jamming workshop "City on Palm", enabling participants to create their own palm-sized miniature city. The mobile museum will also be at the plaza for participants to try out its interactive computer games.

The second phase of the Jockey Club "Museum of Art on Wheels" Outreach Learning Programme will come to an end this month. In the past year, the specially designed mobile museum has visited many local communities and 100 schools. By experiencing its novel art activities, participants have learned about masterpieces by famous calligraphers and hunted for interesting word art hidden in different parts of the city.

The programme is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and organised by the Hong Kong Museum of Art, with the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust as major sponsor, and co-organised by the Hong Kong Society for Education in Art and the Education University of Hong Kong.

Some programme activities require registration in advance or on-site. For details please visit the website of the Hong Kong Museum of Art at hk.art.museum/en_US/web/ma/program01a.html or "Museum of Art on Wheels" Facebook page, or call 2721 0116.

Hong Kong Cultural Centre is located at 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
